Supergirl in the Multiverse: Earth-0

Earth-0, sometimes called Earth-1, Earth-Prime, or New Earth. This is the main universe of DC Comics. The current DC multiverse has the main stories taking place in Earth-0 and this is where I will start my exploration of the various versions of the Supergirl character throughout the local – and eventually the infinite – multiverse.

The Earth-0 Supergirl first appeared as a cameo in Flashpoint #5 from August 2011, and then started her own series with Supergirl #1 in September that year. Earth-0 shares many similarities to the aforementioned Earths 1, Prime, and New. Because of this, the first appearance of this version of Supergirl can also be listed as Action Comics #252 from March of 1959.

This Supergirl is Kara Zor-El, daughter of Alura and Zor-El from Krypton and cousin to Superman (Kal-El). Most often her origin includes the city of Argo surviving the destruction of Krypton for a time after the destruction of the rest of the planet. After some time floating in space the ground begins to irradiate and turn into Kryptonite. To save Kara, her father Zor-El launches her in a rocket to Earth to join her cousin Superman and become Supergirl.

As with all of my Supergirl in the Multiverse posts, this is my own artwork and it depicts Supergirl of Earth-0 in her iconic blue costume with a red skirt and red cape. She is shown standing on an ambiguous rocky terrain. In the background it shows space and Argo City. A motif of the Supergirl symbol and a number 0 is in the top right corner.
