Supergirl in the Multiverse: Earth-1098

In what is a brilliant bit of coincidence, Earth-1098 and Earth-898 (last week’s entry) pair quite nicely thematically. As we saw last week with The Nail, the DC universe would’ve had some rather interesting changes had Superman not been adopted by the Kents. This universe, presented as Elseworld’s Finest: Supergirl and Batgirl, explores a world and its second generation of heroes in a world without Superman or Batman. I have covered this story in whole on my blog last week, so fo a full synopsis read that here, but in short Supergirl and Batgirl team up together against Lex Luthor and Joker. The universe has the Gordons dying instead of the Waynes which sent Barbara Gordon onto the path of the Bat where she converted Gotham to a crime less police state with one rule above all – No Paranormals. Also among the heroic ranks are the Justice Society, led by Wonder Woman and funded by Lex Luthor, this heroic team operates out of Metropolis and protects the world at large but is not allowed in Gotham.

Supergirl in this story, Kara, is the last survivor of Krypton’s destruction. Her home-city of Argo was briefly spared from the rest of the planet’s downfall but it too would perish. Kara was sent to earth where the Argoians had witnessed the Justice Society’s heroics and Kara would arrive already knowing of their good deeds. She came to see Wonder Woman as a mother figure and Lex Luthor as father figure, each of which would mentor her and guide her in her life as a hero. It would however, be her stubbourness that led her to enter Gotham uninvited and work with Batgirl that brought a change to the world and created a team that can only be called the World’s Finest.

As with all my Supergirl in the Multiverse posts, this is my own artwork. Elseworld’s Finest’s Supergirl is standing in the foreground holding aloft a green car. There is a road below her and an S-symbol in the top right corner with a 1098 on it.
